Product Description

Three Phase Traction Transformer - The "Heart" of Electrified Railway

Traction transformers are special transformers used in electrified railways to provide electric energy for electric locomotives or EMUs, and are core equipment in the traction power supply system. Their core function is to convert high voltage public power grids (110kV, 220kV) into low voltage suitable for electric locomotives (25kV single-phase AC).

Impact Resistance

Frequent overload capacity (2-3 times rated value) and high short-circuit tolerance (over 10kA for 2+ seconds).

Harmonic Suppression

Advanced phase shifting technology or filter windings to handle 3rd and 5th harmonics from locomotive rectifiers.

Extreme Adaptability

Operates from -40ºC to +45ºC. Anti-fouling design with creepage distance ≥31mm/kV for harsh environments.

High Reliability

Backup cooling systems and real-time online monitoring for partial discharge and temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the primary advantages of a traction transformer compared to a distribution transformer? Traction transformers feature significantly higher overload capacity (up to 200% for 10 minutes) and specialized wiring (V/V or Scott) to handle the unique demands of electrified railway systems.
2. Which international standards do your transformers comply with? Our products are designed and manufactured according to the IEC 60076-11 standard and have received CE, UL, and KEMA certifications.
3. What is the typical lead time for production? In general, the production cycle takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the specific model and customization requirements.
4. Can these transformers operate in extreme environmental conditions? Yes, they are designed for wide temperature operation from -40ºC to +45ºC and include anti-fouling insulation suitable for coastal or desert areas.
5. What cooling methods are available for the dry-type transformers? We offer both AN (Air Natural) and AF (Air Forced) cooling methods to ensure optimal thermal management based on the load requirements.
6. Are the winding materials customizable? Yes, we provide both high-quality Copper and Aluminum winding options to meet different weight and performance specifications.
