Traction transformers are special transformers used in electrified railways to provide electric energy for electric locomotives or EMUs, and are core equipment in the traction power supply system. Their core function is to convert high voltage public power grids (110kV, 220kV) into low voltage suitable for electric locomotives (25kV single-phase AC).
Frequent overload capacity (2-3 times rated value) and high short-circuit tolerance (over 10kA for 2+ seconds).
Advanced phase shifting technology or filter windings to handle 3rd and 5th harmonics from locomotive rectifiers.
Operates from -40ºC to +45ºC. Anti-fouling design with creepage distance ≥31mm/kV for harsh environments.
Backup cooling systems and real-time online monitoring for partial discharge and temperature.
